Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Authority, a state institution, was opened to the public in 1957. On its grounds are "Ohel Yizkor", a building dedicated to the memory of the Holocaust victims, a museum with a permanent exhibition, and the central archives for Holocaust research. Non-Jews who rescued Jews are honored in the tree-lined Avenue of the Righteous of the Nations, which leads to the museum. |
